Alumni, Athletics Highlight Homecoming 2005

The University of Guelph's annual Homecoming celebration runs Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. The football game begins Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Gryphons hosting the University of Toronto Blues at Alumni Stadium. Admission to the game is $7 general, $5 for seniors and alumni, $3 for students and $1 for children under 12.

Homecoming begins Friday night with the Gryphon Club Hall of Fame dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn. Ticket information is available by contacting Janis Mcpherson at (519) 824-4120, Ext. 56133, or jmacpher@uoguelph.ca.

An alumni swim meet begins Oct. 1 at 9 a.m. at the Athletics Centre. The competition will be followed by an off-campus pancake breakfast.

An alumni fun run sponsored by the Human Kinetics and Human Biology Alumni Association will be held at 10 a.m. To register, send e-mail to eventrsvp@uoguelph.ca. The Glory Bowl, featuring alumni Gryphon football players, kicks off at 10 a.m. at Alumni Stadium.

The McLaughlin Library hosts the official opening of the OAC '39 Room and the Florence Partridge Room starting at 10:30 a.m.

The inaugural 25th reunion for varsity athletes welcomes all intercollegiate team members who competed in 1980. The event begins at 11 a.m. at the Holiday Inn. Tickets are $25 and include lunch and a ticket to the football game. RSVP to eventrsvp@uoguelph.ca.

The Homecoming barbecue, including a kids' zone, will be held at the Bullring starting at noon. The Bullring will be open post-game as well. To reserve a ticket for the barbecue call (519) 824-4120, Ext. 56934.

Geography students will challenge alumni in a baseball game from 1:30 to 4 p.m. at the East Residences diamond. Register at msaunder@uoguelph.ca. A reception for geography alumni and students will follow from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Grad Lounge, UC level 5.

An all-ages concert featuring K-os will take place in Peter Clark Hall at 8 p.m. Advance tickets are $22 for students and $25 general and are available at the Central Student Association office in Room 274 of the university Centre. To order by credit card, call (519) 763-3000.
